21/06/2019 3 Reasons To Start Exercising Today!

If you’re in need of some exercise motivation then look no further. These 3 reasons to workout are the only inspiration you need to get off your sofa and move it, move it!

It makes life easier

Whether it’s getting out of bed in the morning or running for the bus with ease. Whether it’s playing with your kids or climbing the stairs without getting out of breath. Being fit makes life a lot easier and a lot more enjoyable!

When you start to carry less weight, there is less pressure on your joints which can help ease knee, hip and foot problems. When you exercise regularly you have more energy, more focus and higher self-esteem.

Exercise can help ward off a multitude of health problems, diseases, and even lower your risk of developing dementia. Exercise has so many benefits that you would be forgiven for thinking it was some sort of magic pill. Well let me tell you, you’re not far wrong.

“If exercise could be purchased in a pill, it would be the single most widely prescribed and beneficial medicine in the nation.” —Robert H. Butler

It gets harder as you get older

Unfortunately, the notion that it gets harder to lose weight as you get older is not a myth. This is because muscle mass gradually decreases as you age causing your metabolism to slow down. Your muscles help you burn calories and keep you lean and toned. It is commonly quoted that from around the age of 30 a woman’s muscle mass decreases by about 1% every year. A contributing factor to this problem is that people’s physical activity levels usually lower with age. This doesn’t mean you should despair if you are over 30, you just need to move more and stay active!

Although it gets harder with age, the sooner you start getting into regular exercise the easier it will be. Also, the sooner you start the sooner you will see results! It’s never too late but you can do yourself a favour and start now. A lot can be achieved in a matter of months.

For ALL those special occasions

Whether you are going on holiday, going to a wedding or going to a party, there will always be a special occasion coming up to get in shape for. Basically, anything that calls for dressing up and looking our best is as good a reason as any for getting into regular exercise.

Rather than focusing on one special occasion, think about all those coming up in the future. Think about all your summer holidays, all those birthday bashes and all those work dos. Focusing on one event tends to work in the short term. Long term? When the event is over, people tend to slip back into old habits and start to ditch the exercise for time in front of the TV. So, start working out today for ALL those special occasions.
